Ski Review: GC Eastern Quiver Killer Long Term Test
GC Skis is Tristan Gossens; a one-man ski company making superbly crafted skis infused with his Vermont-bred design sensibilities, so they grip like crazy and display excellent agility. We put a pair of his prototype-shaped "Eastern Quiver Killers" through a long-term test for two years and found them to be bulletproof in quality, never loosing an ounce of performance after several seasons. We found the prototype shape needed a little tweaking in the tail section to make them optimal, and some testers didn't like the instantaneous feedback and high-tension feel underfoot with the hardwood sidewalls, while others found the scalpel-like precision of edge hold exciting.
Tristan creates some stunningly high-quality construction results (see the pics in the full review) commercial ski companies should strive for, and he customizes his skis to meet the customer's needs. GC Skis is an example of how a single craftsperson can deliver a fantastic quality ski as an alternative to the big-10 ski corporation products. With a bit of geometry modification, the East Coast Quiver Killers would be fantastic Eastern skis and last for many, many seasons. Check out the review HERE.
